Surabaya, a place where I was born (1)

September 30th, 2006 by fiorelino

The first morning in Surabaya, on 27th September at 06.25, My sister, my both nephew niece and I were ready to do our activity.

Our plan or maybe better I said ‘my plan’ that day was taking both nephews to their school, bought  present for a baby born, viting my grandma, visiting my cousine and her new baby, then went to RS. Dr. Soetomo.

First thing first was to bring my eldest nephew niece Dina to her school. Her schoolDina
located actually only 2 minutes from my sister’s house, but since we were also on the way to many destinations, we brought her also to her school with the car.
Dina is my eldest nephew. She is now in 6th grade in what so called with ‘SD’ - Sekolah Dasar (Elementary).

She is quite good in her school, almost always first ranking, although she
doesn’t like read … well probably not yet. I think, she is a type,
who likes to hear, to see, to touch, in order to learn something. This
type usually called with Tactile/Kinesthetic
Learners.
But I’m not really Dina02_1sure :-) If you like to know what learning-style type you have, you can visit this site.

She likes food very much as my brother. Her parents try to educate her,
that she should control her
appetite, which is very difficult for her. But in this fasting month, she could also control her appetite during the day … so where there is a will, there is a way !!

After dropping my eldest nephew we headed to the school of my youngest nephew, Devi. She is nowDevi02
in the first grade of Sekolah Dasar. Although both are in Sekolah Dasar, they don’t enter the same Sekolah Dasar. The reason was because the lecturer where the eldest going to, like to compare both of them, and made the youngest a little bit nervous.

Devi
She is an opposite of her sister, she doesn’t like food - It’s a hard job for my sister to convince her to eat her breakfast, lunch or dinner …
Other things she like, are fashion show, being photograped, talking, chatting, cuddling :-)

Devi’s school is a public shool, which located a little bit far away from the house of my sister. It took us about 20 minutes with car to her school.

From Devi’s school it was still 06.50. My sister and I would like to buy a present for a baby born of my cousine. Since Chico was the only store, that already opened at that time, we were heading to that store and bought somethings that we thought usefull for the baby.

I wrapped the present during the trip between the store and my grandma’s house… well it’s not my grandma’s house. It was my tante’s house, but my grandma lives there.

We were only about 15 minutes chatting with my grandma. I told her that I had a lot of to do that day, because after visiting the relevant I would go to the hospital. Then, after dropping the present and did a little chat with my cousine and her husband, my sister dropped me in the hospital: Dr. Soetomo.

to be continued …

zum allerersten Mal - münchener Freiheit

September 30th, 2006 by fiorelino

Früh am Morgen um halb vier,
geht sie leise durch die Tür,
mit dem ersten Sonnenstrahl.

Keiner würde sie versteh’n,
es ist Zeit far sie zu geh’n,
sieht die Stadt zum letzten Mal.

Chorus: Einen Augenblick geht die Zeit zurück,
viele Bilder zieh’n vorbei
zum allerersten Mal,
einen Augenblick das Gefühl von Glück,
ganz alleine aber frei
zum allerersten Mal.

Nimmt den Ring von ihrer Hand,
traumt von einem fernen Land,
als sie vor dem Bahnhof steht.

Fahrt in eine and’re Welt,
um zu seh’n was ihr gefallt
bis die Sonne unter geht.

Chorus: Einen Augenblick geht die Zeit zurück,
viele Bilder zieh’n vorbei
zum allerersten Mal,
einen Augenblick das Gefühl von Glück,
ganz alleine aber frei
zum allerersten Mal.

Uhh, noch einmal von Anfang an.

Einen Augenblick geht die Zeit zurück,
viele Bilder zieh’n vorbei
zum allerersten Mal,
einen Augenblick das Gefühl von Glück,
ganz alleine aber frei
zum allerersten Mal

Bis wir uns wiederseh’n - münchener Freiheit

September 30th, 2006 by fiorelino

Chorus: Wiederseh’n,
bis wir uns wiederseh’n.
Wiederseh’n,
bis wir uns wiedersehen.

Wiederseh’n,
bis wir uns wiederseh’n.
Wiederseh’n,
bis wir uns wiederseh’n.

Denn irgendwo in dieser Nacht,
bin ich vor Sehnsucht aufgewacht

Reunion with ex-class mate, ex-colleagues and ex-boss (260906)

September 28th, 2006 by fiorelino

It was 26th September 2006 and my schedule was visiting my first university, a place where I received my first salary and flying to Surabaya.

I remembered how happy I was, when I got my first Rp. 100.000,- . By that time I was still in second year, and one kind lecturer saw my talent in programming ;-) Kak HM.. where r u now? I have to thank you, because of you I learned many things, that I didn’t get in the normal lessons. I can use many kind of computers, such as AS/400, ICL and also programming such as Informix 4GL and so on.

Beside me, there were other ‘recruit’ from my year, but they came from other classes. One of them is my dear friend WS. She still in that university. She had a good position there and right now she was doing her S3.

I came too early … as I always did .. but this time I didn’t have a key to open the door, so I had to wait until one of my friends came.

Actually I came earlier, because first, I wanted to meet my old friend, DW, who studied in the university near this university. She was my class mate when I was in Junior High school, it means that we didn’t meet each other about 20 years!!! - because after finishing Junior High I didn’t hear about her anymore until recently….

The second reason ist, that I didn’t want to get stack in jam too … so I was already in my almamater at 07.30 :-)

While waiting someone to come, I called some friends from my HP. One of them is my dear german friend A. She lived in BSD and I told her, that probably I will go to BSD on friday after my visit in Surabaya.

Beside A, I called also my dear lovely sis class mate, LW… She was still at home, but she said that she would come in one hour. Well… I think I made three calls before my dear friend WS came.

WS came at 07.50 and she asked me to do to her office. While heading in her office, I sent sms to DW, told her if she came, she should sms or call me and I would pick her up.

Dewi_arum
Shortly I met DW at 08.15, we talked about our past, and as usual I told DW and WS also about my research in Uni-Bayreuth. I gave them my presentation too. Short before 09.00 WS got a call from LW, whom I called one hour ago. She was already in UG and she waited of us … since DW had to go to her college too, we separated in the hall, WS and I were heading to LW building. DW went back to her college.

It was a nice reunion. Again I told about my research to all my friends there … It was a smallLepkom_3

group, but I hope that my information could be usefull for them. I leave the CDs there too…

Since I have to boarding at 18:20, and I still had to prepare anythings for my trip to surabaya, I had to say goodbye to everybody at 13.15 before leaving UG I had a chance to meet my ex boss too, and as always I presented my presentation (again..).

I think that visit was successfull, I just need to keep in touch with them, so we can build MAS-Community in Indonesia.

I was home at 14.00 and prepared everything. My parents took me to ‘Kampung Rambutan Terminal’ at 15.00, then, as my last trip to makassar, I went to the airport with Damri Bus (Soekarno-Hatta Bus) from ‘Kampung Rambutan Terminal’.

It was a long wait …. and unfortunately my gold-citibank card couldn’t have any access in executive lounge in Terminal A … ouch !!! well so I just waited and had a breakfast in waiting room.

In the waiting room, as usual I became a smoke detector, and warn every person I saw smoking in that room ;-) Beside being a smoke detector I become also a good listener for a girl, who just came from Singapore. She worked there as helper in a family… she was looking a company to go to surabaya…. well in that waiting room there were 2 kind of passangers: First, passengers to Surabaya, second to Mataram. Because of her, I met also a nice young lady, which also wanted to go to Surabaya, and she offered me to go with her to my sister’s house, because her house is in the near my sister’s house.

I wasn’t sure to accept her offer, because I don’t want to trouble her to drop me first to my place and so on … but she was insisting… well, I said: Thank you very much, we’ll see latter, probably I just canceled my ’surprise’ and called her when I arrived.

The passengers of Lion Air, who wanted to go to Surabaya boarded at 18:40. I was sitting (Actually) in the middle - 3e but since I was earlier, and the TKW, who didn’t want to go in the near window, she asked just to move my place. So the position of my row were: tkw, physician and my self.

It was a short flight, and during the flight, since I know that the man sit near me was a physician, orthopedy surgery - As usual I told him also about my purpose of this trip. He was very interrested in my research, and gave me his contact adrress, so we could keep in touch. He offered me also to give a lift to go to my sister’s place…. Well… I told him that someone already offered me too, and in fact she lived in the near my sister’s house. He said we’ll wait  if I couldn’t find her when we arrived, he would take me to my sister’s place.

We arrived in Surabaya at 19.55 and he was picked up by his wife and his lovely daughter. They insisted me to enter they car … well I guess it’s okay, since they had driver. I thought the driver would know all roads in surabaya. The wife of that physician is psichology and she told me that their direction is just like my sister’s place direction, so it won’t be a problem for them.

The physician asked 108 for the direction of my sister’s place, and I was already in front of the house of my sister at 20.40. After ringing the bell I was hiding while my brother in law looked for someone who rang the bell… I suprised him … in about 2 minutes my litle nephew came out and said … mama arummmm…….my nephew called me always like that :-)

My surprise was succeed.

Fasting

September 23rd, 2006 by fiorelino

Today is the begin of Ramadan month. Moeslem are normally fasting in this month, so I guess before sleeping (again) I would like to write about fasting from many aspects … hihihi inspired by wikipedia and iqbal, who just told me why I was blogging while I did my sahur :-)

Fasting
is the act of willingly abstaining from some or all food and in some cases drink, for a period of time. Depending on the tradition, fasting practices may forbid sexual intercourse, masturbation, as well as refraining from eating certain types or groups of food (e.g. meat). Medical fasting can be a way to promote detoxification.

Fasting for religious and spiritual reasons has been a part of human custom since pre-history. It is mentioned in the Bible, in both the Old and New Testament, in the Mahabharata, in the Upanishads and in the Qur’an.

In Islam, fasting starts from fajr (dawn), until maghrib (sunset) is observed during the month of Ramadan. Fasting in the month of Ramadan is one of the Pillars of Islam, and thus one of the most important acts of Islamic worship. By fasting, whether during Ramadan or other times a Muslim
draws closer to his Lord by abandoning the things he/she enjoys, such
as food and drink. This makes the sincerity of his/her faith and
his/her devotion to Allah (God)
all the more evident. The believer knows that Allah will love him/her
when he/she is ready to abandon worldly comforts for Allah’s sake.

Allah informs Muslims in the Qur’an that fasting was prescribed for those before them (i.e., the Jews and Christians) and that by fasting Muslim gains ‘taqwa‘,
which can be described as the care taken by a person to do everything
Allah has commanded and to keep away from everything that He has
forbidden. Fasting helps prevent many sins and is a shield with which
the Muslim protects him/herself from jahannam (hell).

Muslims believe that fasting is more than abstaining from food and
drink. It also means to abstain from any falsehood in speech and
action, from any ignorant and indecent speech, and from arguing and
fighting, and sexual intercourse. Therefore, fasting helps to develop
good behavior.

Fasting also inculcates a sense of brotherhood and solidarity, as a Muslim
feels and experiences what his needy and hungry brothers and sisters
feel. However, even the poor, needy, and hungry participate in the
fast. Moreover, Ramadan is a month of giving charity and sharing meals to break the fast together.

While fasting in the month of Ramadan is considered fard
(obligatory), Islam also proscribed certain days for non-obligatory
fasting, such as on each Monday and Thursday of a week, the 13/14/15th
days of each lunar month, the Day of Arafat (9th of Dhu al-Hijjah in
the Islamic (Hijri) calendar, the day the Hajji’s reach Mount Arafat), or six days in the month of Shawal (the month following Ramadan).

Well… today is the begin of Ramadan, and in this opportunity I would like to appologize, if something in my blog bother the reader … :-)

Happy Ramadan - May God bless all of us …

No Smoking Area

September 23rd, 2006 by fiorelino

Dilarang_merokokThis sign is actually already begin as a part of public area. For those who still can not leave the habit, normally the institution or probably the cigarette provider provide a place where those people can smoke.

Unfortunately there are some people, who just ignore the sign as if they can’t see … Actually I would like to write ‘as if they can’t read’ but I changed my mind, because when we see the sign, you don’t have to be able to read to understand it. The sign contains a picture that can represents any language!!

So definetely those people can’t see or ignoring to obey the rule.
At first, I thought, that’s because there is ’special security’ to keep the rule being followed and also there is no sanction (consequence) if they don’t obey the rule. But after talking with other passenger in Mandala while waiting until the counter for check in opened, now I know that the government in Indo already has some kind of ‘police’ to make sure, that the rule is being followed. But he said too, that those ‘police’ are just chatting with each other and don’t really care if someone does something that actually not allowed, as long as it not really dangerous … (probably they tought that way) …. it’s wrong!!

It effects not directly at the time, but the effect will come latter … and latter could be late …
I wish government give a penalty for those who just ignore the rule, as they ignore the rule in the street, that sometime couldn’t be seen.

Those ‘police’ should have kind of ticket that received by the person who doesn’t follow the rule. So beside buying the cigarette, those people will pay also the cost to cleaning up the environment. But it should be done correctly. Meaning that, those people should aware how much is the penalty ticket and they should asked that ticket to the ‘police’.

If this could be proceed, probably income of the country will be increased… and this will educate people too…some people need to be forced, because: Only sign or warning without any penalty or consequence, they don’t change.

Rokok_1
While waiting for the opening of check-in counter, I’ve already warned five people who smoke in that area. I asked them to read and follow the sign, and they were just smiling with the eye ‘I smoke - so what’. Three of them are security of Lion air and two of them are also a crew of something I couldn’t read, coz they were about 5 m from me.

They have an ID Tag in their safari-uniform, and they stand just in front of the sign ….. ck ck ck

Makassar, Day Six (230906)

September 23rd, 2006 by fiorelino

Today I’m going home :-)

I woke up at 07.00 and after having breakfast I packed all my things in my suitcase. Actually I would like to buy some presents or souvenir for my family and friends and also my friends in Germany, but my suitcase is already full, so I guess I’ll buy it in Jakarta …

I planned to leave the hotel at 10.00. While I was waiting to leave the hotel, I made some letters to visit some hospitals and probably if it is possible, also to visit health ministery.

At 09.50 I paid the bill. It wasn’t expensive at all, although I could also have cheaper if I stayed in wisma. I asked the hotel staff to order a cab for me. The Cab came around 10.00 and it took more than 1 hour to the airport thru toll road. I was wondering, because last time I thought it took me not that long .. or probably because by that time I went to the other hotel. Well never mind…

At 11.10 I was already at the airport, I looked at my ticket again … owaya … the flight is 14.50 and not 14.00, so the locket would be open at 12.50 and not 12.00 hmmm… well…since I was hungry, I headed to the restaurant baso senayan, which located near mandala-locket and having a delicius tahu sapo … It contains tofu, vegetable and sea food …. I cleaned up the plate quite slow, because I had still so many time before check in.

I finished my lunch at 11.50, then I went directly to the locket. I was the first person in the queue. While waiting of the opening of the locket, I looked around… Suddenly my nose smell something I didn’t like … smoke !! hmmm … I didn’t see someone smoking but I know that someone smoked… I scan the whole direction from my place .. and gotcha I found the ‘übel-täter’ - he stand in front of ‘No Smoking area’ sign. He has an ID as if he is a staff there. I don’t know I couldn’t read the ID in about 6 m from me.

Read [No Smoking Area]

Finally, at 13.00 the staff of Mandala opened the check-in ticket, and I gave my baggage to her. After paying the taxes and ‘the contribution’ for Pemda, I entered the waiting room. I was surprised that they still have lounge for people who has gold credit card … how nice!! so I could wait there in a convinient sofa and work… probably they have internet too …

I asked the staff of the lounge about Internet. He said that I have to pay 25000 rp for 1 hour and have to use their computer… o je I need my computer because all my documents are in my computer, beside I don’t want to pay umsonst anymore such as when I was in internet cafe yesterday. It was only 5000 for nothing, but if I use here, it would be 25000 for nothing…

First I didn’t realize that I choosed a wrong sofa, because that sofa located in [Smoking Area]. After someone from the other area told to her family, and said that he wanted to smoke in the smoking area, I realized that I had to move.. so I did…

In the new sofa, I took only an orange juice (because I was already full), and starting to write all letters again. I finished those letters at 14.00 so I still have 1 hour five minutes. Hmm… I think I could sent those letters as a fax now, using matrix. First I had to find out the fax number of ministry of health then I have to find out the fax number of RSUD Dr. Soetomo.

I thought and I hope I sent those fax successfully. Before I was beginning to write another letter/ fax to other hospital, I heard announcement that my flight was already boarding … well.. I continue this latter …

Fly_01
Fly_02
Right now I’m in the plane because after I’m in Jakarta I’ll directly go with my friends then home…

_____
I was landing at 17.00 Jakarta’s time and I had some sms-exchanges with my friend discussing where we can meet. I told her, that it is better I used a damri bus to somewhere such as blok M and we can meet there, because if they picked me up, we will waste our time, because of the jam … so we finally we decided to meet in Blok M.

We were sitting in one restaurant in Blok M Plaza. It was 5 of us, one man with four beautifulJalanjalan
women :-) We talked and talked from 18.00 until almost 21.00 at that restaurant … in fact I had a chance to show them the future store I always talking about.

Makassar, Day Five (220906)

September 22nd, 2006 by fiorelino

Today I had appointment at 09.00 with the president director of the hospital. Before I went to the appointment, I visited again the place, where I got the internet connection, which is in the near reception. This time I didn’t have luck, because I couldn’t access the internet… so I thought I will use matrix latter.

My mission today was to introduce the technology I brought from Germany to management level and to pick up questionnaire I spread out previous day.

While killing the time, waiting until the appointment-time with the presdir, I just sat in the security chair and writing the blog from yesterday. I had a chance only 5 minutes sitting there, then suddenly came the HRD Director, the nice lady I met in the second day. She told me that I should work at her place, because it is more convenient because of the AC and the place … well actually I don’t really mind waiting in satpam-place, but since she insisted, I followed her and worked there … well beside writing blog I wrote also report for the company, which sent me to this city.

060922_01
At 09.00 I went to presdir office and voila she was just behind me. She welcomed me nicely and I was so impressed of her vision and mission for this hospital. I can imagine how hard to force people to do something different, such as using computer as tool for their work. She said that she already forced all nurses to learn computer and at least they can input the data to the computer. The difficult part is to ask the physicians to use computer too …. Well I told her also about my conversation with some physians who have dreams that all patients data can be seen in the computer, which is now still not possible. They just received papers and at the end of the day the physicians didn’t know how many patients already consulted to him or being operated by him.

We discussed a lot of things, and I think we need to discuss more. But we don’t have much time, so after I showed her my presentation which impressed her, because this technology can reduced the lost of hospital daily. She told me that she lost minimal 5 operation cloth everyday … well….. I told her also in the airplane, they lost also their blanket around 100 everyday, but of course the aircraft has more budget as the state hospital.

Speaking about budget, she told me also, because of the new program, which helping the poor, she has to make another profit centre to balance the cost that hospital has to spent. We were also talking about KPI (Key Performance Indicator) of the hospital. She told me that she use balance score card to measure the performance of the hospital.

It was around two hours discussion until I told her, that I have to collect all questionnaire and say good bye to the people I met during my visit.

After visiting her, collecting questionnaire and saying good bye to everybody, I leave RSWS heading to the hotel. I planed to go to internet cafe and get some money for atm to pay the hotel, because the hotel doesn’t receive credit card.

O waya … there was a brontok virus when I used the computer in Internet Cafe. I just paid 5000 rupiah only for sitting there, having my lunch and being upset.  I decided to use matrix at  the hotel.. . hopefully it won’t cost me too  much, since the company, which sent me here don’t transfer the money yet … I run out of fund .. ouch !!

Makassar, Day Four (210906)

September 22nd, 2006 by fiorelino

Today was better than yesterday, although it began with a frustated morning.
I wake up late today. Probably because I I was so tired and the weather was so hot…
Anyway I went to RS around 10.00 am !! - It was my fault not to see the chief of medical record installation, chief of Lontara 2. Hmmmm…. Never mind … I already recorded the process if patient come to the hospital.

There are two ways that patient come to the hospital.

First way is through emergency room. in the emergency room after entering the gate (gerbang) there are three choices:
060921_041. Resusitasi –> red
2. Observation - Surgery and Non Surgery/ Children –> yellow
3. Action room (Operating Room) –> green

Second way is through normal reception. In this reception there are two kind of patient. First is for060921_03_1
those who has normal ASKES and the second one is for those who are poor and need ASKESKIN. I was impressed with this program, because with this program those people who doesn’t have enough money can get the treatment also. Well as my motivation of my research:

Jeder Mensch in jedem Land verdient es gesund zu sein

Each person in each country deserves to be healthy

During observation in the reception, I talked with two co-ass and I used that chance to give them060921_05 information about the future hospital, multi agent system and RFID Technology. They were very interrested when they saw the film and would like to have the copy of that film. I told them that I will give them a CD tomorrow.

during observation also, I found out that there is access point in to internet in this area. It called with kulkel AP. wow! But they dont have protection using the internet.

After hanging around in medical record, I went to ICU. First I asked the staffs, who just lost her friend recently, so they didn’t have time to answer my questions, but they told me that I could enter the room and meet nurses in nurses room.

060921_06_1
In nurse’s room I met three nurses .. perfect. So I told them about this technology too and gave them the questionnaire. The respond of that film was not entusiasm as co-ass, which I can understand. But one nurse, who was unfortunately not filled the questionnaire, was very interrested in the presentation. She asked some good questions and gave some good commentars. Since I came during break time, at 13.00 they have to go back to the duty again, so I told them that I’ll pick the questionnaire tomorrow.

From nurse’s room I saw one physician in physician’s room, I just entered and asking that person wether he physician and wether he has time to answering my question. He said yes to both questions. We sat together and I explained him about the technology I brought from Germany and also my intention in this hospital. Before I was starting with the film and presentation, he called his colleague, a surgery physician. After hearing that I’m from Germany, he asked me to explain the presentation in english language, that made me easier :-)

They were, as my expectation, very interrested of the presentation, and would like to know more,060921_07_1
so I showed them some other movies that explain what can RFID does for our daily life. First presentation was only three persons, but the audience added two more physicians. It was great.

The chief of ICU came also at the end, after giving surgery, I asked him whether he has time to hear and filling the questionnaire, and he said ok. I think it was great. Today I already gave this information to other groups then EDP. Physician, Co-ass, Nurses, and of course EDP.

In this area, there is also access point called with ICU … well I think if we talked about IT-Infrastructure, they have it already. Since the physicians seemed have time, I asked  them about this matter.

They told me that every sub intallation and installation has computer, so actually it could be all connected … well they are all connected. The problem they faced, is actually the human resources, who sometime misuse them to surf something not supposed to surf. I asked them, they can turn off the internet. One of physician told me.. it is not only because of internet, but also that there are some persons who got disadvantages with transparancy. Because computer avoid those persons to manipulate prescriptions of medicine.

Other things that they are complained about, is the water from PAM and also the electricity (diesel with solar).

It was a long discussions with the physicians, and I think it was great. I had some inputs and so they had. One of physician bought me also a lunch.

After having lunch, I continued my tour again to IRD or we can call it Emergency room to pick up questionnaire I gave them previous day. Unfornately I didn’t have luck, because no body there. well… I hope tomorrow I can catch up the physician who received me the other day.

Not only having no luck in IRD, I’ve got no luck in lontara 2 too, because the chief of that ward was not there, and chief of nurse asked me to ask the chief first before come to her … ouch !!

Hmm… Actually it is not very bad, because I have the whole two intallation already visited. EDP and ICU. It would be great if I have 6 installations or sub. dept., but if it is not possible, then it’s fine with me. I got all information I need in the matter of IT-Infrastructure. According to my observation, actually it would be not difficult to implement the multi agent system here, because they are already connected and they even has access point in almost every installation. One thing should be prepared is the human resources.

The investation for this implementation is actually not much. But it required many things beside hardware implementation. The tag could be managed by RFID printer, so just like barcode, it could also printed. So if this technology would be implemented in this hospital, first of all they need the inventory list of all resources, which contains:
- chief of department
- physicians
- co-ass
- chief of nurse/ ward
- nurses
- staff (this should also divided into some installations)

Well… I’m really satisfied today, because I found something that I didn’t expect before. And again some of member of this hospital already being introduced into the new technology that actually a small thing but could help us to serve better.

After I found out that I couldn’t catch up the other installations, I got home around 15.00. In the PT (Public Transportation) I met two member of the hospital: a nurse and a co-ass, they helpmed me a lot to describe the way to go MTC or to mall.

I gave them also my questionnaire and pen. I told them that I will pick up tomorrow in their place.

I was smiling inside when they talked to me about PT… it’s kind a cute .. well sometime they said angkot, but most of them called public transportation as a PT … they can perfect english :-)

After I got home, I gave my heavy bag into the office, then went to MTC. The driver was very nice and he was surprised when I asked It was difficult to find something I looked for, that’s why I asked him where MTC was. He asked me where i came from and what i’m doing here in Makassar. I told him as I told all people I met, then he started to speak english … :-) It was funny - he can speak english very well!!

When I got to MTC he said .. hope to see you again before leaving Makassar :-)
In MTC I couldn’t find what I’m looking for, so since I was very tired, I took a taxi to go to mall.

There I found what I was looking for. There I found also nice sellers, they explained me how to get home. Well… seems the Makassar’s people are very helpful :-)

I went not directly home after Mall and to copy centre instead. In the direction to copy centre, I saw some tourist attraction, I thought probably if I have time on staurday, I’ll take picture there.

After copying what I need to copy I went home around 22.00. It was a long long day, but actually again I’m satisfied with the result.

This journal made me easier latter when I’m writing report :-)

Makassar, Day Three (200906)

September 20th, 2006 by fiorelino

After seeing those movies I falled to sleep again until 03.00 .. today morning.. ouch!! I thought I have to make copies of my presentation, so I could give all chief of the installation, but I have to compile the presentation  again, changed some of words in german to english and then I made some questionnaire for physician, patient, nurse, staff and of course chief of installation.

It took me sometime to think about what kind of questions I would like to ask them. I finished all things at 07.00. I took a bath and directly went to the copy shops  to print, copy and bind all materials.

It took hours and hours to finish only 6 copies !! Although I helped them too. Today was sooooo many customers. Anyway it was 10.30 when I left the copy center.

It begins the hardest part … finding chief of installation. When I got there, I went first to emergency installation. Unfortunately for me, there was a seminar, so the chief was busy so I couldn’t see him. So I took the time to see around. I let my self to make some pictures and film.

After waiting around one hour, I decided to go to other installation, which is COT. but on the way to that installation I saw a canteen, so I thought I would have a lunch first.

After having lunch I went to COT. Unfortunately it was also a busy installation, there were so many patients waiting in the corrider, so I change my mind and went to the ward Lontara II.

There I welcomed by nice nurses. Unfortunately (again) I couldn’t find the chief, because he was already left to other appointment… well they are very very busy person… But I got a chance to take a picture of those nurses. I wish I could take a picture of the rooms too… but I think, I had to have permission of the chief of the installation.

Until that time I had still nothing…ouch!!  I went to EDP around 14.00. As I expected before, they were there and they were not as busy as the other …:-) They welcomed me very nice and I got impression that they are interested with this technology, which is I already expected.

I gave a presentation about MAS and its application in some fields such as in supermarket, supply chain and of course in the hospital. I told them also the reason why I’m in Makassar. Finally I gave them my questionnaire and also a CD which contain some films and lectures about MAS. The visit to EDP was erfolgreich.

After EDP, I went to the medical record installation, and before entering the ‘komische weg’ into that installation, I took a picture about ASKES procedure.

Again I couldn’t find the chief of medical record installation. But I could look around of their places… they were thousands of pink folder.. I guess I would take a picture tomorrow. Before I leave the installation, I took some pictures of them in front of reception.

I went again to IRD to see whether I could find their chief. urghhh I still didnt have a luck to see him. One of physician, named umi told me that he is very busy person, coz he speech every where. So I gave her all materials I have (questionnaire, letter of recommendation) and of course I had a chat also with her and two other physicians.

Well… today I already get a rid of two materials I had … :-)  I still have thursday friday and saturday to get a rid of the other materials ….. I went to the supermarket to buy some fruits before got home …

sleep and then writing this …
now I’m sleepy again … I’m really really exhausted.
